CGC Shines at the Duxford Flying Finale 2024

On Saturday 5th October 2024, the Cambridge Gliding Centre (CGC) proudly participated in the grand finale of the 2024 Duxford Air Show season. Aerotowed from Gransden Lodge behind our Robin DR400, pilot Shaun Murdoch flew in our 20M Perkoz, which became the centre piece of a stunning static display beside the Control Tower. Opposite the Perkoz, but positioned airside, was our trusty Robin DR400, completing the scene.

While we had initially planned an exhilarating aerobatic display, unforeseen circumstances meant our pilot had to cancel just two days prior. Nonetheless the CGC stand remained a hub of excitement with the sleek Perkoz drawing plenty of admirers. In fact, a number of enthusiastic visitors signed up for more information about joining our gliding community!

One of the day’s unforgettable moments came when the Red Arrows made their grand entry, joined by none other than a Spitfire Mk IX, piloted by Paul Bonhomme—who, when not soaring through the skies in high-energy displays, enjoys the peaceful thrill of gliding with CGC.

A huge thank you to the fantastic Duxford team, whose unwavering support made this event a resounding success. We’re already looking forward to soaring back next season!
